National Youth Week 2017 grants program opens

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of young Tasmanians through advanced training, academic and skills programs through to the arts and sport and recreation.

National Youth Week 2017 is an annual celebration of young Australians 12-25 and recognises and celebrates their contribution to our communities.

National Youth Week will run from March 31 to April 9, 2017, and this week a grants program opened to helped support Youth Week events.

The grants program offers standard grants of up to $2000, and three grants of $5000 are available to partner organisations in each region (North, North-West and South) to deliver Youth Week events.

Funded events can:

  • Showcase the talents and skills of young people;
  • Profile the role of young people and celebrate their contributions; and
  • Raise issues of concern to young people and explore possible solutions.

Youth initiatives sponsored by the Tasmanian Government through National Youth Week have included the Tasmanian Youth Parliament and the Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards.

National Youth Week is an Australian, State and Local Government initiative and the grants program applications close on January 20, 2017.Further information is available at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/nyw
