National Energy Guarantee Update

The National Energy Guarantee has taken an important step forward after it was strongly endorsed by the Coalition party room today in Canberra.

It’s now up to Labor to endorse this nation-leading reform to ensure Tasmania and indeed the country can reap the benefits of the NEG.

This is not the time for politics. We have the opportunity to reduce power bills across Australia and to create thousands of jobs and billions in investment in Tasmania alone.

This includes nation-leading projects such as the Battery of the Nation’s  pumped hydro initiative and further interconnection.

By refusing to support the NEG Rebecca White  is opposing the economic benefits and jobs it represents for Tasmania. Labor is also blindly opposing reforms which will see Tasmanians continue to have the lowest energy prices in the nation.

The Guarantee has secured unprecedented, near-universal support from consumers, businesses, manufacturers, miners, farmers and energy companies.

Labor needs to get on board. Anyone who stands in the way of the NEG is standing in the way of cheaper, cleaner and more reliable power for all Australians.
