The Tasmanian Government says sorry to survivors of child sexual abuse for the terrible hurt they have suffered from people who were supposed to care for them.
The National Apology provides an important opportunity to acknowledge the incidence of child sexual abuse and its devastating impact on so many lives, as well as actions underway to prevent such abuse occurring again.
Though an apology will never make good terrible wrongs our aim is to acknowledge them and say sorry, and to ensure that these shameful practices are never repeated and that any child in care is safe.
Tasmanian victims and survivors of child sexual abuse, and their families, gathered in Hobart today to watch the National Apology, with the Premier and Attorney-General attending on behalf of the Tasmanian Government.
