Ms White in hiding over Tassal's EPBC approval

Labor leader Bec White is continuing her small target, say nothing approach to major policy issues in this State.

Yesterday’s approval of Tassal’s Okehampton Bay aquaculture farm through the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) process was great news for jobs on the East Coast and regional Tasmania.

This is the highest environmental tick in the land, but Ms White hasn’t made any comment about this significant final approval which will create jobs in the seat of Lyons.

In contrast, the Hodgman Liberal Government is a strident supporter of the 5200 jobs supported by the salmon industry, we have introduced the toughest environmental regulations and we will soon unveil a draft Sustainable Salmon Industry Growth Plan which will outline the future vision for the industry.

Many Tasmanians are suspicious that Ms White and Labor are soft on salmon and will sell the industry out given half a chance in order to keep the Greens happy; so she needs to unequivocally welcome yesterday's EPBC decision.
