More TFS personnel to assist Canada in bushfire fight

Three specialist Tasmania Fire Service personnel will be deployed to Canada for the next 42 days to assist British Columbia in their battle against severe wildfires.

The region is currently facing severe fire conditions with over 200 separate fires recorded so far, and we are more than willing to help our international colleagues in their time of need.

Senior Station Officer Andrew McConnon and Station Officer Jason Vinen will work as Divisional Commanders on the frontline, while TFS Project Officer Maree Hinton will take on a Logistics Officer role.

All three are experts in their field and I am confident they will do Tasmania proud as they help Canadian authorities in this ongoing battle.

They will join two TFS personnel who were deployed to Canada last month, and on behalf of all Tasmanians I thank them for their willingness to help and look forward to their safe return.
