The Hodgman Liberal Government is investing a record amount of $1.48 million into education and training and that means more resourcing for teachers and more teachers.
More teachers is excellent news for our teaching workforce, excellent news for our schools and, most importantly, excellent news for our students.
Calls by Labor and the Greens to ``restore teacher numbers’’ is plain nonsense.
There are now 108.75 FTE more teachers in the Department of Education in March 2016 compared to March 2015.
We have also provided resourcing for 33 FTE more teachers, on a same enrolment basis, in schools than when Labor and the Greens were in government in 2014.
Currently, as a result of those resources, there are 17.7FTE more teachers working in our schools than in 2014.
By getting the Budget back on track we now in a position to focus on essential services such as education and training.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to lifting Tasmanian education and providing students with the best opportunities and properly resourcing schools with support packages and teachers is part of our Plan.
