More support for Tasmania's Emergency Service Volunteers

Applications will soon open for the Tasmania Fire Service Volunteer Brigade Grant Program which provides non-essential equipment, training, recruitment activities and station upgrades.

The Tasmanian Government committed $2 million over four years in 2018 to support Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) volunteer brigades and State Emergency Service (SES) Units.

Since its inception, the Program has awarded more than 300 grants (totaling over $900,000) to 173 volunteer brigades across the state.

Some of the purchases include AED (defibrillator) training units, laptops, projector screens, BBQ’s and other items which would not usually be funded as essential items.

The grants program encourages enhanced recruitment, retention and community engagement by ensuring brigades are equipped with the non-essential items needed to create a positive environment.

The Tasmanian Government greatly values the contribution of our more than 5000 emergency service volunteers, and I encourage brigades across the state to get involved with this great program.

Grants open on the 6th of July 2020.
