More recognition for LINC Tasmania

LINC Tasmania continues to build on its international reputation surrounding its world-renowned integrated library/archive service model with a visit this week from a Malaysian state library.

Two representatives from the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak (the State Library of the Malaysian state of Sarawak) spent yesterday and today in Tasmania on a fact finding mission.

Chief Executive Officer, Madam Rashidah Bolhassan, along with the head of the Depository Services Sector were looking at the key elements of our state's archives and libraries practice and our respective approaches to integrate these functions.

Hosted by State Archivist Ross Latham, the visit also included a meeting at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery about the relationship between government archives, libraries and museums.

Additionally, there may be a future opportunity for a senior staff member to work within the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office for up to three months to observe the integrated management of state archives and heritage collections and the ongoing transformation of our government record-keeping service.

The visit follows on from Ross Latham's visit to Sarawak in August last year, as a guest of the Malaysian Government, to provide advice and guidance about future directions for the Sarawak State Library and their state archives.

LINC Tasmania is an international and Australian leader in the integration of the collections and services of government archives and libraries.
