More Labor misinformation on mental health beds

Sarah Lovell has made an art form of spreading misinformation on mental health, even after her claims are corrected. We will not be downgrading our nation leading mental health plan to Labor’s policy which was rejected at the election.

Once again, the facts are:

The Government will deliver 25 extra mental health beds. That hasn’t changed.

The Government has a $95 million mental health plan which is widely supported. That’s more than $70 million more that we are investing in mental health compared to Labor’s election commitment.

Mental health is too important to be playing politics with, especially this week when the sector is promoting unity and progress under the “Stronger Together” theme.

It’s time Sarah Lovell stopped spreading misinformation and creating unnecessary angst in the community. Tasmanians expect better of their elected members. Perhaps in the meantime Ms Lovell would be good enough to reverse her opposition to us rebuilding and opening 15 beds at the Peacock Centre.
