Only the Tasmanian majority Liberal Government is committed to ensuring Tasmania has the skilled workforce it needs to support our growing economy now and into the future.
Unlike Ms White and Labor we are very positive and excited about Drysdale’s future. We are setting up a new advisory committee made up of industry representatives, which will help determine the training priorities for TasTAFE and ensure future offerings better align with industry needs.
Our plan for Drysdale is working. We have delivered our $1.5m Drysdale campus at Devonport's Providore Place and training has already commenced at the new Drysdale campus in Hobart's Northern suburbs where equipment upgrades are planned for later this year.
We strongly support our tourism and hospitality sectors, and we’re actively assisting industry in its longer term goal of establishing a not for profit RTO to be run by industry, for industry, to complement the offerings available through Drysdale.
We believe that competition and choice is healthy in any market, particularly in growth sectors such as tourism and hospitality, and we are excited for Drysdale’s future.
The Government looks forward to working with industry to ensure we address the skills shortage and allow the tourism and hospitality industries to continue to thrive.
Since coming to Government we have increased recurrent funding to TasTAFE, which for 2019-20 is $79.4 million.
The Liberal Majority Government will protect TAFE, provide the funding it deserves and ensure Tasmanian students are trained to support our growing economy.
As hard as they try the Opposition can’t re-write history, Tasmanians remember all too well the millions of dollars in debt the Labor Green Government left TasTAFE in, and how they lost 4000 apprentices through their disastrous Tasmania Tomorrow reforms.
The Liberal Majority Government will protect TAFE, provide the funding it deserves and ensure Tasmanian students are trained to support our growing economy.
