More goal-shifting hypocrisy from the Greens

Today’s opinion piece written by Rosalie Woodruff in the Mercury newspaper is just another example of the Greens’ anti-tourism and anti-jobs agenda.

For years, the Greens have pretended they supported our tourism industry, yet today, Greens MP Rosalie Woodruff has confirmed they want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs by destroying our vital cruise ship sector.

The cruise ship industry plays a vital role in expanding our visitor economy, keeping the shop tills ringing and Tasmanians employed.

This year, a record 95 cruise ships visited Hobart, injecting as much as $60 million into the local economy, and the Greens’ proposal to change standards ahead of the rest of Australia would decimate the growing sector.

All cruise ships visiting Tasmania abide by international standards, and air-quality around the Derwent River is monitored by the EPA.

We make no apologies for supporting Tasmania’s booming tourism industry, and the contribution it makes to growing the economy and creating jobs.
