Mona Foma and Festivale to continue to star in the North

The Tasmanian Government is delighted to have secured Mona Foma for three more years, as well as boosting Festivale as part of our $6 million events and arts package for Northern Tasmania.

Mona Foma made an impressive debut in Launceston earlier this year capturing the imagination of locals and is a truly world class event.

The event showcases our fine creative industries, draws visitors from interstate and overseas, and provides a massive economic injection into the local economy.

Mona Foma has the capacity to be a truly transformative event for Northern Tasmania with thousands of new visitors expected to experience this festival and all the region has to offer each year from now until 2021.

Festivale, a staple of the local events calendar since 1988, encompasses everything Launceston; good food, magnificent parks, great music and great people. Our investment will help organisers to take this event to the next level.

Importantly, the package includes a new program of support for the Northern Tasmania’s arts and culture sector.

The new program, to be delivered by Arts Tasmania, will make grants available for local organisations to help build artistic, cultural and creative capacity to tell stories important to the local community and assist them to participate in these great festivals.

The Government is committed to ensuring every region benefits from our booming visitor economy.

That’s why the 2018-19 Budget includes $129 million to provide new experiences and attract world class events to encourage even more people to explore every part of our great State.
