Michelle O’Byrne needs to explain why she’s soft on crime

Michelle O’Byrne needs to explain to Tasmanians why she thinks it’s OK to commit a serious crime and escape with a ‘get out of jail free’ card.

In Tasmania one in three people who get a suspended sentence end up reoffending.  Tasmanians want to see real deterrents in place, but Michelle O’Byrne wants to ignore the community.

It’s typical of Labor’s soft on crime stance.  So far Labor has opposed mandatory jail sentences for people who commit serious sexual offences against children, mandatory jail sentences for serious assaults against our hard working frontline workers and mandatory jail sentences for evading police.

Michelle O’Byrne and Labor want to take the side of the criminals and ignore the victims and she needs to tell Tasmanians why.
