MCH works to get underway

Much needed refurbishment works at the Mersey Community Hospital are a step closer with the tender process now open.

The Hodgman Liberal Government saved the Mersey by securing a $730.4 million, 10-year deal with the Federal Government in April, and is investing a total of $35 million for refurbishment works.

This $3 million tender process is for Level 2, A Block which will be redeveloped into a rehabilitation service unit.

It will require major infrastructure changes to accommodate bariatric wards, rehab therapy space, outpatient clinic space and ambulatory rehab areas.

The redevelopment is only possible because we have balanced the budget, meaning we can afford to invest more money into essential services like health.

Expressions of interest advertisements were placed in all major Tasmanian newspapers this weekend.

The tender process closes on February 2, 2018.
