Massive firefighting efforts continue

The Government and the community are extremely grateful for the work of our dedicated volunteer and career firefighters in protecting life and property in hot, difficult conditions.

They are doing an incredible job, with a number of fires having been contained and declared.

There are still dozens of fires burning across the state, and with ongoing hot weather conditions, it is imperative Tasmanians follow advice from the Tasmania Fire Service and ensure they do not put themselves or others in danger.

It is vital that everyone in the community stays informed, follows TFS advice and adheres to the strict rules of fire bans when they are in place.

The TFS, Parks and Wildlife Service and Sustainable Timbers Tasmania have the Hodgman Liberal Government’s continued support to do whatever is necessary to tackle these fires.

We would also like to thank the interstate and New Zealand personnel who are assisting our firefighters, and the media for keeping Tasmanians informed and conveying these important messages. The TFS will continue to request any additional support as and when required.
