Massive boost for women's and girls' sport in Tasmania

Providing greater opportunities for women and girls is a key priority for the Hodgman Liberal Government which is why we want to grow female participation in Tasmanian sport.

Our $10 million Levelling the Playing Field program for women’s and girls’ sport facilities is by far the largest investment per capita by any state or territory government, and it proudly shows the Government’s commitment to women’s sport.

Twenty one organisations from across the state have been successful in receiving funding under the first round of the grants program.

It was a pleasure to join members of the North Hobart Football Club today to tour the change room facilities which will be upgraded as a part of this funding program.

With a huge increase in female participation in AFL and cricket in the state, priority was mainly given to these facilities.

The Government is committed to removing barriers for more female participation in sport, which is why we are making sure our facilities are up to scratch.

A full list of the successful applicants is available on Communities Tasmania’s website at www.communities.tas.gov.au
