Loueen Triffitt, Central Highlands Mayor

Marlborough Road upgrade

Joint media release

**Reissued**

Following an onsite visit this week by the Central Highlands Mayor Loueen Triffitt and the Minister for Infrastructure and Liberal Member for Lyons Rene Hidding, the residents and visitors to the Central Highlands will benefit by an immediate intersection upgrade and repairs of the 4kms sealed section between the Lyell Highway and Bronte Park.

“These works are preliminary and necessary due to the degraded nature of the road following the heavy rains over the past year,” Mr Hidding said.

“Tenders will be let this winter for a full rehabilitation and a new seal of the 4kms sealed section during Spring 2017.”

Mayor Triffitt said the upgrade was a great outcome and will result in a better road experience and increased safety for both locals who use the road every day, and also tourists visiting this picturesque part of Tasmania.

This announcement follows on from the major project underway on the Highland Lake Road that will see the sealing of the full length of the road.
