One of the key initiatives within The Hodgman Liberal Government’s Tasmania’s Active Ageing Plan 2017-2022 is the Liveable Communities Grants Program 2017-18, which is now open.
The Plan aims to make local communities more responsive and inclusive of the needs of older people and the Grants Program will focus on supporting projects that benefit people in later life, are innovative and have the potential to be sustainable.
Older Tasmanians play such an important role in our community and this grant program recognises the contribution they make right across our State and would be ideal for strategically ready local councils to run pilot projects in their communities to improve liveability.
The Grants Program will be supported by the Council of the Ageing (COTA)’s Toolkit for Local Liveable Communities which has been developed to support local government to undertake an audit of the liveability of their communities and potential barriers for older people.
Applications are open to all Tasmanian local councils and local government authorities.
Applicants may apply for amounts between $5000 and $15,000, with a total funding pool of $75,000.
The Liveable Communities Grants Program 2017-18 Guidelines and Application Form are available at www.dpac.tas.gov.au or by email at csrgrants@dpac.tas.gov.au or telephone on 1800 204 224.
Applications must be received by close of business on Monday, 9 October 2017.
