LIFT – Making progress for a better future

Around 8,500 students across 80 schools from Kindergarten to Year 2 are already benefitting from the Hodgman Government’s $17.75 million investment in improving educational outcomes for young Tasmanians.

The Learning in Families Together (LIFT) program is developing genuine partnerships between schools, students and their families, developing respectful communication and shared decision making which will maximise the learning potential of each child.

We know that if we can engage more parents and families with school and their child’s education we see better results for our children, and it is great to see it working here at the Bowen Road Primary School.

Aligned to the principles of Gonski and targeted to schools with the greatest need, the LIFT program is part of the Hodgman Government’s most significant transformation of and investment in the structural reform of education, in more than half a century.

It is widely recognised that growing parent or carer engagement in children’s education improves educational outcomes.

The LIFT program, along with the Education Act being debated this week, will provide earlier access to quality early learning programs in schools which is crucial for the future of this state.

Tasmanians deserve better, today and for generations to come which is why, through the new Education Act and programs such as LIFT, we are providing the important early learning years with the funding and structural reform necessary for improvements that benefit all our young people.
