Leadership changes in the health system

Mr Matthew Daly has announced that he will leave his position as acting CEO of THO South at the end of this month to take up a private sector appointment in New South Wales.

Mr Daly, the Secretary of the Department of Health & Human Services, who for the past 11 months has been fulfilling the duties of CEO of THO South, has been a strong and respected leader within our health services.

He took on the role of Acting CEO of THO South at a very challenging time and has done an outstanding job preparing the organisation for the challenges and opportunities of important health reform.

I sincerely thank Mr Daly and wish him well as he takes up an exciting opportunity closer to his family.

THO South will be merged with the other regional THOs from July 1 to form a single statewide Tasmanian Health Service. Acting arrangements for the CEO role are now being attended to by THO South Governing Council.

Michael Pervan will continue as the Acting Secretary of the DHHS while a formal recruitment process for the role takes place. The process of merit-based recruitment for both substantive positions of Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services and CEO of the Tasmanian Health Service has now commenced.
