Nearly a week on, and Bryan Green still refuses to say how he is going to pay for his $60 million education policy announced on Sunday.
It’s clear that Labor has a secret plan to forcibly close schools, and axe the highly successful Years 11 and 12 in high schools program, in order to pay for their unaffordable promises.
I have already spoken to parents whose children are benefitting from being able to complete Years 11 and 12 in their own communities who are worried that Labor will scrap the program if they ever return to government.
We know that Labor is ideologically opposed to our plan to extend high schools through to Years 11 and 12 and would scrap the entire program if they had their way.
We also know that Labor has form on shutting schools, revealing in 2011 a hit list of 20 schools it wants to shut.
Tasmanians know that Labor can’t manage money and they have already racked up $1 billion in unbudgeted promises.
The Government has got the budget back on track. We will deliver a budget surplus three years ahead of schedule and we will invest the dividends back into the core responsibilities of Government, like education and skills, health and protecting the vulnerable.
