Labor's plan to destroy the budget

Not content with giving themselves a larger pay rise than public servants, Labor now want to smash the budget to pieces by significantly increasing the size of the public service.

At their State Conference next weekend, Labor members will vote on increasing the size of the public sector by at least 10 per cent.

A 10 per cent increase in public servants would cost the budget over $300 million each and every year- that’s at least a $1.2 billion blow out across the forward estimates.

And even worse, Labor members will also vote to make it official Labor policy to hand the unions a blank cheque on wages with unfettered wage increases across the board.

It’s now well understood that Labor politicians are taking a higher pay rise than two per cent to show support for the unions, and no doubt to also support this motion for unfettered wages- which unbelievably has come directly from Ms White’s own Sorell branch.

Rebecca White should rule out these proposals before they even get to the conference and back our plan to invest more in public services without destroying the budget bottom line.
