Labor’s lousy one idea week

Tasmanians should be rightly concerned at the Labor party’s lacklustre performance this week and the one, uncosted idea, brought to the table – housing-lite.

After three months away from Parliament, Tasmanians expect more from an Opposition than doom, gloom and negativity – and we are calling on lazy Labor to step forward with costed ideas, if not, the plan David O’Byrne promised last year when he was undermining Ms White.

Our Government has worked hard to announce this week more than 30 additional costed initiatives to grow our economy, maintain our economic momentum and ensure Tasmanians have more jobs and opportunities.

This includes our nation leading $50 million hydrogen investment package, establishment of a Glenorchy Jobs Hub, further red tape reduction to back our businesses, wellbeing strategy for children and young people, as well as a raft of affordable and social housing initiatives, including extending the first home builders grant by two years to give first home builders a kick-start of $20,000.

In addition to our $55 million nation leading fuel reduction program, we announced a number of initiatives to keep Tasmanians even safer from the threat of bushfire.

While Labor continues to talk down our economy, attack businesses and knock their nation leading confidence, we will continue to deliver our long-term plan, including our record $3.7 billion infrastructure program, creating a further 10,000 jobs over the next four years.
