Labor’s civil war boils over as Madeleine Ogilvie dumped from Denison

Labor’s civil war is now in full flight as a powerful union faction begins purging the party of candidates that it doesn’t like.

Madeleine Ogilvie’s position on the Denison ticket is now well and truly in question, with confirmation that the unions are stacking it with ideological fellow travellers.

It’s been confirmed that Tim Cox, Scott Faulkner and Ella Haddad will run in Denison alongside expected candidate and perennial Denison hopeful, Jane Austin.  That means Labor will either run six candidates in Denison, or they are planning to dump sitting member, Madeleine Ogilvie.

This is the culmination of a long-running campaign within Labor to get rid of Ms Ogilvie, which included the extraordinary scenes of union leaders and Labor members protesting outside Madeleine Ogilvie’s office in 2015.

What this shows is that the Labor Party are more interested in themselves than the people of Tasmania.
