Today in Parliament Labor will be called out for their position on 7-12 high schools when I move a motion that Parliament support the extension of all high schools to Year 12.
Labor have been all over the shop on this, including at last week’s Leaders’ Debate.
Labor opposed this highly successful initiative from the get-go, and last year Labor’s Education spokesperson Michelle O’Byrne stated she would wind the reforms back if elected.
Yet last week at the debate Ms White backtracked on that position and tried to claim while Labor opposed the policy, they wouldn’t wind back extension schools.
Labor can’t have it both ways – they either support the policy, or they don’t.
The motion to be debated reads:
“That this House supports the extension of all Tasmanian High Schools to Year 12.”
