Labor confirms budget blowout

Labor has confirmed that if given the opportunity to form a minority government with the Greens after the next election, they would blow the budget almost immediately.

Labor has confirmed it would give public sector workers massive and unaffordable pay rises that would blow a hole in the budget.

They have form on this.  When we were elected in 2014, Labor had left a cumulative deficit of $1.1 billion.

The Hodgman Government has a responsible wages policy, which sees public servants receive an affordable two per cent wage increase each year.  If Labor increases that by just one per cent, to a three per cent pay rise, it would cost an additional $25 million each and every year.

We make no apologies for getting the budget back into balance and investing more into frontline services.  That’s the hallmark of a good government.

What Labor has shown is that they are completely captive to the unions and have no idea how to manage the State’s finances.
