Labor cannot be trusted with Tasmania’s future

The Hodgman Liberal Government today welcomes Labor’s stunning about-face on our Year 11 and 12 school extension program.

After years of campaigning against what has been a very successful program for 30 schools across the state, Labor have had a humiliating back-down now they realise they cannot shy away from the facts - student retention is increasing, the achievement rate has risen to 56.4 per cent (13 per cent higher than it was under Labor and the Greens in 2011), with 3767 students achieving a Tasmanian Certificate of Education in 2016, 382 more than in 2015.

Six years of opposition cannot be washed away. The Tasmanian people know Labor cannot be trusted to retain Year 12 extension schools.
