Labor and Greens seek to destroy our third largest industry

Tasmania’s hospitality industry is our third largest employer and the backbone of our visitor economy which is experiencing unprecedented growth.

Today in Estimates’ hearings economic saboteurs, Labor and the Greens, joined forces to attack our hospitality industry and the 22,300 employees it supports.

It is not unusual for industry representative bodies to receive government funding to support industry growth and workforce development.

In fact Government has a role to help grow major industries that underpin our economy and employ Tasmanians.

Given how important this industry to the future prosperity of our State, the question is why hasn’t Rebecca White even bothered to meet Steve Old since the state election?

Ms White’s latest attack on the hospitality industry comes as she remains cagey on her flagship anti-pokies election policy and pressure on her leadership mounts.

Today’s display of whinging and carping makes it clear that Ms White would rather play silly political games with the Greens than support an industry employing thousands of Tasmanians.
