Labor and Green MPs get a fail for education

Labor had 16 years to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of Tasmanian students and failed.

While in office Labor and the Greens cut teacher numbers and attempted to close Tasmanian schools. That is the Labor-Green legacy.

The Liberal Government will not be lectured to by those who failed Tasmanian students at every turn.

The Liberal Government made a commitment to employ 25 new literacy and numeracy teachers and that is what we are doing.

Why are Labor and the Greens opposed to more teachers in schools?

The Liberal Government will not be apologising for employing more teachers to give those young Tasmanians who have fallen behind the urgent help that they need.

Where teachers leave existing positions to take up these new jobs, we will assist principals to fill vacancies as they normally would. Students will not be left without qualified teachers.
