Labor all at sea over seal relocation

Another day, another fence sit for Labor.

North West Coast recreational and commercial fishers should be very annoyed with Labor, which continues to sit on the fence on the issue of the relocation of rogue seals.

Deputy Leader Michelle O’Byrne confirmed yesterday Labor had no position on the controversial practice*.

I challenge Braddon Labor MP Shane Broad to explain to the North West Community why he will not stand up for the region on this issue.

I am a strong supporter of Tasmania’s salmon industry and the jobs it supports, but the controversial practice of seal relocations is unsustainable and that is why the State Government will stop it by Christmas.

This is a no-brainer, but for some reason, Dr Broad is unable to stand up for the North West Coast when it comes to rogue seals and the reopening of the Arthur-Pieman 4WD tracks.

*“We will be able to respond in terms of our plan very soon, but we need to have a conversation with workers”  Michelle O’Byrne Southern Cross September 21, 2017.
