Labor all at sea on Ashley

The Labor Party appear to have confirmed their policy to close down the Ashley Youth Detention Centre after more than a year of continually shifting their position from closing, re-purposing, and keeping the facility open.*

Did Mr Willie discuss his latest comments with his leader, Rebecca White? Or has he taken it upon himself to state the party’s position after months of indecision?

The Hodgman Liberal Government has committed to keeping the Ashley Youth Detention Centre open on its current site, and we are investing $7.3 million into a major redesign and upgrade of the facility.

Importantly, significant work has already been achieved via the Ashley Youth Detention Centre Change Management Program to move to a more therapeutic model of care.

Labor must finally explain their policy clearly to the people of Deloraine and the broader community.
