Kudos to Kingborough's outstanding citizens

Congratulations to the outstanding individuals and organisation recognised today at the Kingborough Awards.

Every day volunteers across Tasmanian communities make a profound and positive difference to the lives of others and they deserve to have their efforts recognised and appreciated.

The Kingborough Council today acknowledged five individuals and one organisation for their outstanding contribution to the community.

  • Citizen of the Year, Peter Martin – for his support for the veteran community; his work through the Kingston Beach RSL, Legacy House and the Kingborough Bowls Club;
  • Young Citizen of the Year (two winners): Isaac Smith for work with the Kingston Beach Sailing Club and North West Bay Scouts Club; and Bridget Fasnacht for her commitment to surf life saving and water safety awareness;
  • Community Group of the Year – Sustainable Living in Kingborough, for raising awareness and developing educational messages promoting sustainable living options;
  • Certificates of Appreciation (two winners): Peter Shelley for his commitment to the Margate Men’s Shed and Dennis Richardson, for his commitment to volunteering at the Manor Gardens day respite centre.

Volunteering is immensely valuable and helps to build stronger and more connected communities.
