Kings Meadows $7m infrastructure revamp

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is reinvigorating educational facilities across the state with the single biggest infrastructure investment in high schools in 20-years.

The $68 million Reinvigorating Tasmanian High Schools program will be rolled-out over four years, and will see the construction of critical new infrastructure to improve learning outcomes.

It includes $5 million for Kings Meadows High School, which is in addition to $2.15 allocated in previous budgets, to undertake $3.1 million in works in 2015-16 and $4 million in 2016-17.

The $7.15 million has been allocated for major refurbishments works at the school including new Year 9 and 10 learning areas and refurbishing Year 8 learning areas.

It will also allow for a revamped Material, Design and Technology centre and Art facilities, as well as amenity facilities and new covered walkways.

We want to ensure that young Tasmanians have the opportunity to explore their passions and discover a path to their future career in the most contemporary learning environments possible.

This strategic investment in infrastructure will also drive economic growth and create jobs from planning to construction. Launceston-based architects 6ty° Pty Ltd have been engaged as the consulting architects for this project and is already working closely with the school around suitable design options.
