Kentish community to benefit from regular bus service

I am pleased to announce the State Government will be establishing a regular bus service for the Kentish region, with three return trips on weekdays and two return trips on Saturdays.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is reinvesting the dividends of our growing economy and stronger budget position into improving the lives of Tasmanian communities, and this development will open up increased job opportunities for those in the state’s north while allowing increased visitation and the potential for business growth for the region.

The Kentish community, particularly those in Sheffield and Railton, have been forced to live without a regular general access bus service connecting them with Latrobe and Devonport, and this historic announcement is great news for this growing community.

This service will also be especially welcomed following the recent withdrawal of Federal funding for their local community bus service.

The northern economy will also be boosted by the community having more access to a wider range of health services, shopping and recreational activities.

Regular comfortable and modern bus services are enjoyed by many Tasmanians living in regional communities and I am very pleased the Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering this important service for the state’s north.
