Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Communities Awards

The Liberal Government congratulates the winners of the 2013-14 Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Communities Awards in Tasmania.

Westbury, Launceston and Richardson's Beach in the Freycinet Peninsula were among this year's winners presented with their awards by Liberal Member for Braddon Roger Jaensch this afternoon.

On behalf of the State Government, I congratulate Westbury for being the overall state winner of the Tidy Town award.

The Tidy Town award takes into account litter prevention, waste management and resource recovery efforts, as well as other factors such as natural environment conservation and environmental sustainability.

The City of Launceston has taken the top honours in the 2014 Sustainable Cities Award category while Richardson's Beach in the Freycinet Peninsula has been chosen as the winner of the Clean Beaches Award.

The Tasmanian Government is proud to sponsor the Keep Australia Beautiful Awards in Tasmania.

The Government provided $30,000 grant to Keep Australia Beautiful (Tasmania) for the 2014-15 financial year.

Keep Australia Beautiful is a volunteer-based organisation and this grant funding recognises their ongoing efforts such as the annual Tidy Town Awards, educational programs and community and local council infrastructure initiatives.
