Today’s ABS stats confirm that Tasmania’s retail trade has continued its fantastic record run to an astounding 32 months of continuous growth.
This is great news for Tasmanian retail businesses, including the many small businesses operating in the State, and confirms that the Hodgman Liberal Government’s Plan is building confidence, growing the economy, and most importantly, creating jobs.
The figures show $522.6 million was spent in Tasmania in June, up 0.7 per cent compared to the previous month.
We came to office promising jobs would be our number one priority, and since the election 10,500 jobs have been created under the Hodgman Government.
Our plan sets out Tasmania’s way forward, and we have implemented a number of initiatives including the Northern Economic Stimulus package to stimulate regional economies, as well as our $25 million for a youth employment strategy that will help Tasmanian businesses give young Tasmanians their first job.
While these results are promising, we will not take our foot off the accelerator, and we will continue to implement our long-term Plan to Build Tasmania’s Future.
