Job numbers steady near record high levels

ABS data released today show that the trend of near record employment continues with  245,500 Tasmanians in work.

Since the Hodgman Government was elected 10,300 jobs have been created.

We have put in place a number of policies to boost the economy and create jobs, including a $25 million package to help more younger Tasmanians join the workforce.

But there is more to do.  That’s why we have set an ambitious target to have the lowest unemployment rate of any state by 2022.

We stand by our record on job creation.  Under the last Labor-Green Government the unemployment rate peaked at well over eight per cent and in the depths of the Labor-Green recession, 10,000 jobs were lost.

There will be a clear choice at the next election – a majority Hodgman Government with a proven record of job creation and economic growth and a Labor-Green minority Government with a record of destroying jobs and driving the economy into recession.
