Investing in Festivale to grow visitor numbers

Northern Tasmania’s best loved alfresco festival is ripe for growth and the Tasmanian Government is backing it to go to the next level.

We are providing $80,000 each year for the next three years so organisers can implement a new tourism strategy to build the festival’s profile and attract more interstate visitors to the event.

The three-day food and wine extravaganza already attracts 25,000 people each year and delivers significant flow-on benefits to the Northern Tasmanian economy.

Through its new tourism strategy, kick-started with a grant from Events Tasmania, organisers are aiming to increase the event’s profile and appeal to bring in even more interstate visitors.

Last year around 15 per cent of patrons came from interstate.

Supporting Festivale is part of our plan to grow tourism and the visitor economy in the North which supports local businesses and creates jobs.

Over 30 years Festivale has grown to be one of Tasmania’s great summer events, a fine food and beverage experience with an estimated economic impact of more than $5 million.

Our support will ensure organisers are well placed to take Festivale to the next level, and attract more visitors to Tasmania.

Festivale is held at Launceston City Park and runs from 10-12 February.
