Around 300 local, national and international farming experts are visiting Launceston for the International Farm Management Association (IFMA) congress.
This is the first time the biennial congress is being held in Tasmania, and will provide an opportunity to showcase Tasmanian agriculture to the world.
Held between 4 and 8 March, this year’s conference theme is Growing Agriculture at 42o South.
The Congress is an opportunity for those involved in the industry to learn and share ideas on growing agricultural output and understand current global and local trends.
A number of speakers will address delegates on important issues such as food supply and demand, and how to make agricultural businesses profitable and sustainable.
The congress will also be hosting the inaugural Next Gens program designed to foster networking and professional development of young agriculturalists.
In addition to the presentations, delegates will also have the opportunity to visits farms and agricultural businesses, including visits to grazing, cropping and intensive horticulture businesses.
With the Hodgman Liberal Government’s vision to grow the annual farmgate value of the agricultural sector to 10 billion by 2050, this congress offers the opportunity for people to access the most up to date national and international advice, knowledge and developments in the agricultural sector.
The Congress is being supported by the Government in partnership with Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture through the local congress organising committee.
