Integrity Commission five year review

The Tasmanian Government welcomes the independent five-year review of the Integrity Commission Act 2009, and we thank the Hon William Cox AC, RFD, ED, QC for his work in undertaking this important review.

Mr Cox’s report contains 55 recommendations, with one of those recommendations dealing with 45 technical amendments. The Government is currently working carefully through these recommendations and we will respond in due course.

The Government will, however, move quickly to settle the governance structure of the Commission, including the reforms recommended to the Board composition and the recruitment of a new Chief Executive Officer. It is important the Commission has a certain and stable governance structure as we work through the implementation of the recommendations.

Importantly, the Government stands by our commitment that the Integrity Commission should continue its investigative functions.
