In great news for Tasmania, the Australian Energy Market Operator’s ISP Insights paper has confirmed the importance of increased interconnection and large scale storage solutions across the national electricity market.
Renewable energy is one of Tasmania’s natural assets and one of our greatest competitive advantages, and there is no doubt that Tasmania’s Battery of the Nation Project offers the nation the lowest cost storage solution.
The Insights paper reaffirms our plans for the Marinus second interconnector and massive pumped hydro investments, which represents the single biggest economic opportunity for our state over the next 15 years as not only do we have low cost, reliable and clean energy solutions, but our storage solutions are the best on the block.
It has the potential to inject up to $5 billion into our state’s economy and create thousands of jobs, particularly in regional Tasmania, and the Hodgman Liberal Government will continue to drive this exciting plan that has the potential to benefit both Tasmania and the rest of the nation.
