The inaugural 2017 Farmgate Festival will shine the spotlight on producers in Northern Tasmania giving visitors and locals a behind the scenes look at farms and beverage businesses across the Tamar Valley.
The Hodgman Liberal Government, through Events Tasmania, is proud to support the Farmgate Festival through the Regional Events Start-up Program.
There are currently 14 farms signed up to open their doors as part of the Farmgate Festival on November 25 and 26 showcasing the strength and diversity of our agricultural sector.
The Fesitval is fundamentally about visiting farms not normally accessible to the public and being part of the food experience with the farmers. Additionally, there will be a ``Festival Hub’’ at the Exeter Showgrounds to provide a central meeting place and information hub with a focus on cooking and eating.
Tasmanian produce is the envy of the world and the Farmgate Festival will give a unique insight into the paddock-to-plate experience.
Supporting regional events is crucial to achieving the Tasmanian Government’s aims as part of the T21 Visitor Engagement Strategy, growing our visitor numbers to 1.5 million by 2020 and creating more jobs in regional Tasmania.
The Farmgate Festival is also a shining example of the agri-tourism opportunities in Tasmania, supported through our Agri-Tourism position paper which will be released later this year.
