Improving the tourist experience in Launceston

Tasmania is a special place and the launch of Uncover Launceston will help visitors to more deeply immerse themselves in all our Northern city has to offer.

The innovative new app showcases Launceston’s rich history, scenic location, built heritage and historic sites.

Launceston already attracts over half a million interstate and international visitors annually. Uncover Launceston provides even more reasons for tourists to head North, stay longer, spend more and share their experiences with family and friends.

Using the device’s navigation features, Uncover Launceston provides navigation to 100 points of interest including 35 historic buildings, and then shares interesting facts and information.

The project takes advantage of the Smart City initiative, utilising smart technology to enhance the experiences of visitors to Launceston.

This new app comes as the latest Tourism Research Australia figures show the number of international visitors to Tasmania has grown by 13 per cent and is faster than any other state and territory.

Congratulations to the app’s developers, David and Eve Gibbons, who are helping to share the best of this beautiful city with the world.
