Improved access to a World Heritage view

The Hodgman Government’s Tourism Infrastructure In Parks (TIIP) fund is allowing our iconic national parks to reach their full tourism potential.

I am very pleased an upgrade of the popular viewing platform on the shore of Lake St Clair has now been completed, improving disability access to one of the finest viewing points of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

The $90,000 upgrade has resulted in an improved pathway to the lookout platform and a gently graded track down to the beach, allowing those with prams, walking frames and wheelchairs access to the lookout and onto the shores of Lake St Clair.

This is a great result that will allow even more people to enjoy this stunning area, and demonstrates our commitment to Tasmania’s booming nature-based tourism industry that is attracting record numbers of visitors to the state and creating jobs.
