Important JCTEC work to continue

To paraphrase Mark Twain: reports of JCTEC’s demise are greatly exaggerated.

I look forward to attending the next meeting of JCTEC on the 20th of April this year, a meeting which has been scheduled for quite some time.

Since its inception, JCTEC has been an important forum for the Tasmanian and Federal Governments to meet with leaders of the Tasmanian business community and discuss the Tasmanian economy.

JCTEC has contributed to a number of significant policy outcomes that will help power Tasmania’s economy for years to come, creating jobs and supporting businesses right around the State.

Key projects advanced through JCTEC so far include:

  • $203 million to extend the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme;
  • $120 million for the second tranche of irrigation projects; and
  • $300 million for the development of new UTas facilities in Burnie and Launceston.

These are significant achievements. Each of these projects will provide huge benefits for Tasmania.

The Government is committed to working with business and with the Federal Government to continue delivering for Tasmania.
