Hundreds of elective surgeries already provided with money Labor claims hasn’t been spent yet

Another day, another monumental clanger on health by Labor.

Rebecca White, who must be approaching a record-low strike rate for any politician when it comes to the accuracy of her claims, has today claimed that “not a cent” of Commonwealth elective surgery funding has been spent.

In actual fact, $5 million of this funding has already been spent and 1,500 Tasmanians have already received treatment at providers including the Launceston General Hospital, North West Private Hospital, Hobart Private Hospital, Launceston Eye Hospital and Calvary Launceston.

Procedures performed under the agreement include cataracts, endoscopies and major orthopaedic procedures including knee and hip replacements.

Providers are continuing to deliver additional elective procedures using this Commonwealth funding, and once a full panel of providers to roll out these procedures have been selected, we will make an announcement.

While Labor is throwing rocks and getting things wrong, the Hodgman Liberal Government is getting Tasmanians into the health care they need.
