Housing update

The Hodgman Liberal Government is getting on with the job of providing more affordable homes for Tasmanians in need.

Recently, I was pleased to visit two of our 78 units being rolled out across the state as part of our 10 year Affordable Housing Strategy.

Housing Tasmania has advised that the two units have been offered to tenants and they are working with these individuals to ensure a fast and smooth transition.

One tenant is a priority applicant and is expected to move-in in by the end of the week, while the other unit will be occupied by a tenant being transferred from a four bedroom homes as part of the stock-match initiative endorsed at our Housing Summit.

The Government wants to make Tasmania an even better place to live, and ensuring more people have a roof over their head is an important priority.

Today, Labor has again revealed that they have no plan to provide even just one roof over a vulnerable Tasmanian's head.

In delivering our Plan, we will continue to work with the community sector, and organisations such as Housing Connect, to ensure all Tasmanians have a safe, affordable place to call home.
