Latest figures show turnaround times for public housing properties has fallen by 28 per cent under the Hodgman Liberal Government.
Turnaround times for public housing properties now sits at 24.1 days, below the national benchmark of 28 days and well below the 33.6 day turnaround time under the previous Labor/Greens Government.
While the improvement in the turnaround times is welcome, it is disappointing instances of arson and vandalism are affecting the availability of some properties for Tasmanians seeking public housing.
The Government continues to work proactively with Housing Tasmania to reduce the impact of this crime on those who need access to affordable housing.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to taking action every single day to deliver on our multi-pronged approach to ease the housing shortage.
We are investing a further $125 million in the second stage of our Affordable Housing Strategy, which is expected to provide an additional 1,500 new affordable homes for Tasmanians, and assist around 2,000 households.
When Labor left office they left the community with a $90 million public housing deferred maintenance bill.
They still do not have a plan to deal with housing in Tasmania other to complain, order a review and raise taxes.
In stark contrast, the Government has a comprehensive housing plan and is delivering on it.
