Hospitality and tourism driving Tasmania’s economic growth

New ABS figures released today show that under the Hodgman Government, the economy has grown by around 5 per cent.

In the 12 months to June 2017, the economy grew by 1.1 per cent alone.

Two of the biggest drivers of our economy over the past four years have been hospitality and tourism.

While the massive increase in new home building has tapered off, the Government has stepped in and increased investment in infrastructure to pick up the slack.

Under the Labor-Green Government, the economy was slammed into recession, unemployment peaked at well over eight per cent and thousands of Tasmanians simply gave up and left.

The Hodgman Government has outlined a clear, long-term Plan to keep Tasmania’s economy growing.
