Hospital café opportunity

An exciting and unique opportunity awaits to establish and operate a café and retail space at Tasmania’s newest hospital facility.

The Royal Hobart Hospital’s K-Block includes 340 square metres of available commercial space to lease, and access to a fantastic, urban, outdoor terrace and balcony overlooking Campbell Street.

Enjoying all day sun, the space will be both an opportunity for time out from the clinical setting and a vibrant Hobart destination in its own right.

The café will primarily service the Royal - a community of thousands of staff, patients and visitors who are part of the daily experience of the hospital.

Importantly, the Royal is also a hospital for the wider community and this café will be a key mechanism for making the hospital a space for all Tasmanians.

Proposals are encouraged that preference connection between the community and their hospital.

Orientated towards the Theatre Royal and UTAS’s new creative industries and performing arts project, The Hedberg, the space will form part of an emerging CBD precinct.

The successful proponent will have a creative vision and be prepared to enthusiastically fit out the available shell space.

A Request for Proposals will be released in the New Year. Potential proponents should keep their eyes on https://www.tenders.tas.gov.au/

The K-Block is scheduled for practical completion mid-2019 with occupancy of the café anticipated in late-2019 or early 2020.
